About WTWN: What To Watch Next

Danny Sullivan, Founder

The philosophy of What To Watch Next is about meeting two simple needs: what do I want to watch next, and where is it playing?

I originally created WTWN for myself, as a personal "vibe coding" project to have something better than writing down TV shows and movies we wanted to watch in the Notes app on my iPhone.

That was always the challenge. What were we watching again? What did we want to watch next? And where is it streaming? We have Google TV and Apple TV devices, along with several streaming providers – and none of the watchlist options on these seemed to really help us.

The site is purposely not designed to recommend things to you automatically. Our best recommendations – and great, personal interactions – come from talking with friends in person about what we're all watching. WTWN does help you with this – you can share TV shows, movies or entire watchlists with others you know, via a link that lets them add shows to their own watchlists.

While WTWN started for me as a personal project, I hope it's useful for others, too.

Big thanks to TMDB. WTWN uses TMDB's extensive database to provide accurate information about titles, streaming availability, and more. WTWN currently earns nothing. Should that change somehow, the site will happily shift to a commercial license.
