How to Use WTWN
WTWN (What To Watch Next) is a watchlist app that helps you track the TV shows and movies you want to watch and what streaming services they are on.
Getting Started
There are two ways to use WTWN: with a registered account or in guest mode.
Registered Account
Creating a free account gives you the full experience:
- Sync across devices - Access your watchlists from any device
- Custom watchlists - Go beyond the the four default watchlists
- Streaming filters - See only shows from services you subscribe to
- Notes & ratings - Track your thoughts on each show
Guest Mode
Guest mode is a great way to explore WTWN and decide if you want to register later:
- No email required - Seriously, guest mode doesn't need it
- Your data stays with you - Everything is stored on your device, not with us
But be aware...
- It's device-specific - Your watchlist won't appear on other devices
- Cookie-dependent - Clearing browser cookies will disconnect us from your data
Tip: Thinking of registering later? No problem. All your guest mode activity transfers to your new account when you sign up.
Adding TV Shows & Movies
Use the search box at the top of the screen to find what you want to watch.
How To Add
- Start typing a title - results appear as you type
- Click on a result to open its details
- Choose a watchlist (by default Watch Next is already selected)
- Click Add to confirm
Tip: For TV shows, you'll also select which season to add if there's more than one.
Organizing Your Shows
- Reorder - Use the small arrows to the right of a show card to move it up or down in a watchlist
- Move - Click on a show card (or the pencil icon) to open details, then select a different watchlist
- Delete - In the details view, click the trash icon to remove it from your watchlist
Watchlists
WTWN comes with four default watchlists:
- Watching Now - What you're currently watching
- Watch Next - What you want to watch later
- Recommended - Shows others have shared with you
- Watched - Your completed shows (great for remembering what you've seen)
Custom Watchlists
Create up to six custom watchlists for however you like to organize. Some ideas:
- Genre lists such as for sci-fi, documentaries, reality
- "Together" for shows you must watch with a partner, roommate or group
- "Award winners" to catch-up on notable TV shows and movies
How: Settings (gear icon) → Watchlists → scroll to Add Watchlist OR use the + New Watchlist option in any watchlist dropdown
Organizing Your Watchlists
- Use the up/down arrows on each card to reorder
- Tap a show to open details, then use the dropdown to move it to a different watchlist
- The number next to each watchlist name shows how many items it contains
Streaming Providers
WTWN shows you where TV shows and movies are streaming, so you don't have to hunt around. You can also personalize to show only services you use:
Setting Up Your Services
- Tap the gear icon to open Settings
- Go to the Services tab
- Select your country (this affects which services are available)
- Select the streaming services you subscribe to or use
Tip: The easiest way to add a service is to click on its icon next to a show or movie in a show card.
Filtering To Your Services
Once you've added your services, you'll see a toggle at the top of your watchlist:
- Your Services - Only shows services you use
- All Services - Shows all available streaming options
Tip: We hide rent and buy options for TV shows by default to reduce clutter. You can enable them in Settings → Display. We always show TV buy and rent options if there are no other streaming options available.
Streaming Service Types
Each available streaming service shows a badge indicating how you can watch:
- Sub - Included with subscription
- Free - Free to watch
- Ads - Free with advertisements
- Rent - Available to rent
- Buy - Available to purchase
FYI: Sometimes "Free" will appear for services that only offer the first or first few episodes for free. There's no easy way to solve this, sorry!
WTWN does a lot of work to help reduce clutter and show you the most relevant services in a world of many duplicate ones. To learn more, visit our How WTWN Displays Streaming Services page.
Tip: If a show has no streaming availability, you'll see "Not streaming" with a Check Google link that searches for alternative ways to watch.

Other Things
Right now, WTWN doesn't support adding individual TV shows. This is on purpose, to make watching shows feel less like homework that needs to be completed and more like a simple reminder of what you want to watch generally and where to tune in. Perhaps this might come in the future, but that's why it's not present now.
WTWN doesn't provide automatic recommendations of things to watch, relying instead on letting people you know personally send you recommendations. It also lacks a public social system. Maybe that will come if it seems really useful in the future, but there are no immediate plans.
If you want these types of features (or others not offered here), here are some watchlist sites that might be of interest: IMDb, JustWatch, Letterboxd, Reelgood, Serializd, Showline, TMDB, Trakt, TV Time. We aren't endorsing nor have we evaluated these other services. We just became aware of them largely after development of WTWN began, and perhaps they'll resonate with people who want a lot of features. But, of course, we hope WTWN resonates with you, too!
Finally, there are no ads on WTWN. This might change in the future, to help support the site. If so, the goal would be to do so in a way that doesn't impact your experience. Maybe the home page might have an ad for non-logged in users. Relevant affiliate links are more likely (so that if someone clicks to a streaming service's site to sign up, WTWN might earn a little from that). It's possible that there might be a subscription service that eliminates ads. All of this is getting way ahead of things! Mainly – there aren't ads now, because the operational costs are low enough for the site to work as both a personal project and one shared with others. See also: About WTWN!
