How WTWN Displays Streaming Services
WTWN shows you where your TV shows and movies are streaming. But figuring out how to display providers without overwhelming you with many variations of the same services is challenging! Here's how we do it.
The Problem
We get streaming data from TMDB (The Movie Database), a community-built database of TV and movie information. TMDB's data is good, but it's also so comprehensive that it can be noisy unless we do some consolidation.
A single show might have many duplicate service options. Paramount+ is an excellent example. You can subscribe directly, or through Amazon, Apple TV, or Roku. There are also ad-supported (Essential) and ad-free (Premium) tiers. All of these appear as separate streaming options:

What We Do
Here are some of the things we do to reduce clutter in your results.
Merge duplicate services — Our thinking is if you subscribe to a service with many duplicates like Paramount+, you only need to see the main service. You already know how you access it (directly, through Amazon, through Apple) and whether your plan has ads or not.
Display related services — Some services offer identical or near-identical content, because of a common parent company or partnership. Disney+ and Hulu share much of the same catalog. Sky Go and Now TV in the UK both carry Sky programming. We show both because in these cases, people might have access to only one or the other.
Hide rent & buy for TV shows — For TV shows, we hide Rent and Buy options by default. They can produce a lot of clutter in results, and we believe most people aren't looking to purchase an entire series. You can enable them in Settings → Display if you want them back.
Tip: We always show TV buy and rent options if there are no other streaming options available. Also, be aware this data can be less reliable than for movies.
Streaming data changes constantly, and we're always refining how we display it. If something looks off, let us know! It's kind of fun figuring out new ways to reduce clutter.
In the lists below, you can see the main name we show for a service when we consolidate several identical or near-identical ones into it. Names of individual services are as reported by TMDB and don't always match a particular brand name exactly.
Tip: If you use the Your Streaming Services option on the Services tab, major services are listed first, then other services — both sorted alphabetically.

Rest Of The World
We're based in the United States and familiar with streaming in the United Kingdom, which is why those two countries have custom work. That said:
- Amazon, Apple TV, Netflix, and Paramount+ merging of duplicate services happens in any countries where they operate.
- Some other merging work we've done for the US and UK might also apply.
We'll try to support other countries more in the future, to the degree time and expertise allows.
